On three consectutive Saturdays this past August, New York City banned cars on Park Avenue for a few hours and called the event "Summer Streets." Might this be a portent of things to come? EcoHearth took its camera crew around the city and asked people: "Can you envision New York City without cars?" To see their responses, click here.

FREE UP THE STREETS and use them more creatively and efficiently. Less expensive forms of above-ground people movers and delivery vehicles will cut the time it takes to move around the city. Transporters that can carry larger items from the store to home.
Cross-town mass transit would be easier without having to manuver around cars and taxis. It would be cleaner, quieter, and easier on the environment.
Delivery from store to home would cost less. Could even create a system of unmanned secure transport system non-stop from store to destination. Trash pick-up can be designed to take away trash and recycables all day long. Free-up the streets and use them more efficiently.

Eco Tip

Grow a garden or a fruit tree. Not to mention how delicious and nutritious fresh-picked fruits and vegetables are! More tips...
