Brazil Nut Tree Flower photo by Marco GuarandiBrazil nuts are a fantastic addition to a healthy diet. Not only are they one of the absolute best sources of selenium available, they have anti-cancer properties and actually help save rainforests. According to the Amazon Conservation Association, Brazil nuts can grow only “in a healthy rainforest ecosystem,” where, as an added benefit, they provide families in the Amazon with roughly half their yearly income.

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 2 cups Brazil nut milk

  • 3 small bananas, frozen

  • 3 Tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 1 Tbsp raw maca

  • 1 Tbsp organic bee pollen

  • 1 Tbsp raw agave nectar

Directions
Blend all the ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth, about 1 minute.

Eco Tip

Lower your thermostat temperature in winter and raise it in summer. In winter, set your thermostat to 68 degrees or less during the day (and wear a sweater) and 55 degrees or less at night (and add an extra blanket). Wear less or use a fan instead of air-conditioning on all but the hottest summer days. When you must use air-conditioning, set your thermostat to 78 degrees or more.  More tips...
