Fresh Cacao photo by MtkoponeOn a chilly morning, few things are as comforting as a warm mug of this high protein, high iron and high flavor hemp-cacao drink. It alone will satisfy 50% of your protein needs for the day, as well as 40% of your iron requirement. Amazing! And raw cacao adds hard-to-find minerals such as magnesium. This delightful drink gives me an overall feeling of happiness, health and well-being unmatched by any other beverage—even many whole meals.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 2 Tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup, raw agave nectar, or raw honey (add more to taste)

  • 1/4 cup hemp seeds, shelled

  • 3/4 to 1 cup water

Directions
Blend all the ingredients together until warm and frothy, about 2 minutes. If your blender is not powerful enough to warm the liquid, either use warm water to blend, or warm the cacao drink gently on the stove. For a refreshingly cold version of this drink, use cold water and add a few ice cubes.

Eco Quote

How long can men thrive between walls of brick, walking on asphalt pavements, breathing the fumes of coal and of oil, growing, working, dying, with hardly a thought of wind, and sky, and fields of grain, seeing only machine-made beauty, the mineral-like quality of life?  - Charles A.
